I am myself seeking ways to be more intentional in the scaffolds and supports with the goal of not simply wanting my students to succeed in a culture dominated by white cultural norms or English-only, but to ultimately abolish the dominance of those values in the classroom – by creating new norms that center student identity, choice, and self-determination.
